Social Welfare department strengthens shelter program

THE Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) here in Eastern Visayas continues to strengthen their Core Shelter Program.
The said program aims to provide shelter to the disaster victims in Matag-ob, Leyte with the help of the DSWD, Provincial Government of Leyte and the Municipal Government.
DSWD assures the beneficiaries of this program that those units are typhoon resistant shelters.
“The total cost per unit is P95,000, P75,000 from the DSWD, P10,000 from the Provincial Government and another P10,000 from the Municipal Government, so all in all P95,000 for each core shelter unit,” said Vina Aquino, DSWD regional information officer.
Aquino said they also gave extended cash to the beneficiaries called cash for work scheme. The beneficiaries of this program are the ones constructing those units.
DSWD Secretary Corazon “Dinky” Soliman will also witness the pay out and will lead the ribbon cutting for the inauguration of the shelter project. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
