THE governors of the provinces of Samar and Eastern Samar have confirmed their desire to serve their respective constituents by seeking for another term in the 2013 mid-term elections.
In separate interviews, both Samar Governor Sharee Ann Tan and Eastern Samar Governor Conrado Nicart Jr. confirmed of their plan to seek reelection saying that they want to finish all the programs and projects that they have started during their first term in office.
Among the programs that Tan wants to finish on her possible second term is the inter-town road network that could help hasten the transportation of goods and services.
Tan added her mother, Representative Milagrosa “Mila” Tan, is most likely to seek for another term as the congressional representative of Samar’s second district, amid speculation that her younger brother Vice Governor Stephen James Tan would run for a congressional post for the first district of the province.
Eastern Samar Governor Nicart Jr., now serving his first term, also confirmed his intention to seek for another term next year.
However, Nicart may have a new running-mate in Councilor Emmanuel Tiusongco of Borongan City.
Incumbent Vice Governor Christopher Sheen Gonzales is said to be interested of seeking the mayoralty position of her elder sister, Guiuan Mayor Annaliza Gonzales.
The mayor herself is rumored to be running for a congressional seat of the province’s lone district now occupied by Representative Ben Evardone. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
