Leyeco denies allegation as ‘pseudo-cooperative’

ALLEGATION that Leyte Electric Cooperative (Leyeco) II is a pseudo-power cooperative is not true, a top official said.
Leyeco II President Roland Hidalgo said the allegation is baseless because the cooperative exists by virtue of the Presidential Decree 269.
Earlier, Erlinda Butalig, president of Tacloban Federation of Senior Citizen Association, alleged that Leyeco II is a pseudo corporation since it is not registered under the Cooperative Development Association.
But Hidalgo said the cooperative has an exclusive franchise, issued by the National Electrification Administration, to operate an electric light and power services covering the towns of Palo, Babatngon and this city. It is also a non-stock, non-profit electric cooperative duly organized and existing under the decree. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
