Guv thanks ‘Justice on Wheels’ launching

CATARMAN, Northern, Samar — Governor Paul Daza thanked the Supreme Court (SC) for its “Justice on Wheels,” which was launched recently.

The program aims to treat cases that have not been given attention in the lower courts for almost five or more years; and enhance the administration of justice and reforms in the justice sector.

Daza, who earned and practiced law in the United States before he entered politics, has assured to support reforms, help the needy and marginalized families in their access of an alternative dispute resolution, and extend “pro-bono” legal services and consultation.

After the launching proper, the group of the SC conducted a lecture on the “judicial authority of village officials,” among other topics discussed was the hearing of four cases, which was done inside the “Justice on Wheels” bus.

The bus was divided into two: the mediation room and the court room, where the judge, court personnel, and parties were provided with seats.

In the afternoon, a dialogue was conducted at the governor’s residence, which was participated by prosecutors, judges, and representatives from the Philippine National Police together with the SC personnel.

A team building activity of court personnel was also done, which was attended from the regional trial courts of Gamay, Allen, Laoang and Catarman.

As part of the launching ceremony, legal authorities and the Northern Samar Provincial Hospital personnel conducted a medical-dental mission, and free legal services at the Dancalan Sub-Provincial Jail in Bobon town.

The said jail facility is under the jurisdiction of the Provincial Government with two other sub-jails in the towns of Allen and Laoang. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
