CATARMAN, Northern Samar -- A young lady from this town was hailed third runner-up in the Miss Supranational 2012, an international beauty pageant held last September 14 (September 15 - Philippine time) in Warsaw, Poland.
Twenty-year-old Miss Elaine Kay Moll, second child of Tess Adorable Tancio, is studying at the National University and resides with her mom in Barangay Dalakit, Catarman.
Competing against 49 other lovely candidates from different countries, Elaine represented the Philippines in the said competition after winning as first runner-up in this year’s Binibining Pilipinas pageant last July.
Elaine’s family in Catarman is happy and proud of her latest success. Her uncle, Senior Board Member Jojo Layon, said they were hopeful but actually did not expect that she would emerge as a winner.
Layon added this is a nice birthday gift for Elaine as she turns 21 this September 20.
Standing 5’11”, morena, with vital statistics of 36-24-36, Elaine at the age of 19 started joining the Miss Catarman 2010 contest, where she won as third placer; entered the Miss World Philippines competition in 2011, where she finished as a semi-finalist; and joined the Binibining Pilipinas 2012 pageant, where she won as first runner-up.
Miss Ekaterina Buraya of Belarus won the title as 2012 Miss Supranational, while Miss Thailand Nanthawan Wannachutha was awarded first runner-up. Czech Republic’s Michaela Dihlová and Ecuador’s Sulay Castillo were named second and fourth runner-up, respectively.
Founded in 2009, the Miss Supranational competition is said to be third in rank among the five global major beauty pageants; the others being the Miss Universe (1st), the Miss World (2nd), Miss International (4th) and Miss Earth (5th). (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
