LEYTE Governor Jericho Petilla said it is very likely that senior Board Member Carlo Loreto will be his younger brother Dominic’s running-mate for the 2013 elections.
The governor said their camp, which was earlier confirmed to field businessman Dominic Petilla for the gubernatorial post in 2013, will likely go for Loreto to run for the vice gubernatorial post.
“It is not official yet with the filing of candidacy set next month, but it is very likely that we would be having Carlo as our vice gubernatorial candidate,” Governor Petilla told barangay chairmen in Abuyog, one of the vote-rich towns in Leyte.
The governor was referring to talks that there may be others from among their political allies who may decide to run for the vice governorship.
“There are still talks being made within the (group),” the governor said.
Petilla, together with Leyte Representative Carlos Cari (5th district), Loreto, Board Member Florante Cayunda Jr. and Dominic, was in Leyte’s fifth district recently for onsite inspections and formal inauguration for various projects assisted by the province and the congressional office of Cari.
Loreto, now on his third-term as board member, currently holds three committees in the Provincial Board: education, environment and natural resources, and the blue ribbon. He is a lawyer by profession and an advocate of environmental and humanitarian concerns.
Earlier, Dominic Petilla said he would choose a running-mate who would share his vision and plans for the province -- a running-mate who has signified real intention to run for the post.
The duo has been noticed lately attending similar functions and events in various towns in the province. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
