THE Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (Owwa) regional office said there are four nominations for the 2012 Model OFW Family of the Year Award (Mofya).

The four nominees, two are land-based and the other two are sea-based, were from Basey, Samar; Lawaan, Eastern Samar; Tacloban City; and Babatngon, Leyte.

The deadline of submission of nominations is on September 21, 2012.

“Mofya aims to give recognition to the hard work and determination of OFWs and their family in preserving family values and keeping strong family bond despite being far from each other,” said Ryan Arcenas, Owwa information officer.

Arcenas added that of the four nominees, two would be chosen to get the Mofya 2012 regional award — one for land-based and another one for sea-based — and they would represent the region for the National Awarding on December 6, 2012.

He also said a cash prize of P20,000 would be given to the two Mofya 2012 regional awardees.

Meanwhile, the schedule for the Mofya 2012 regional awarding is on October 5, 2012. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
