PALO, Leyte - As the Christmas season is fast approaching, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the region is warning the public on substandard Christmas items, which could cause dangers to consumers.
Lemuel Montes, DTI information officer, said they will conduct inspections on several establishments in the region starting October to ensure that they are following product standards.
“Our purpose for monitoring and inspecting stores selling these items is for the safety of the public. We have six provincial offices that monitor selected stores, which sell Christmas lights and noche buena items such as cakes and salad ingredients,” Montes said.
Montes also said there would also be products standards and conformance seminar to be conducted on October to inform and update retailers and consumers on product standards. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
