Comelec: No more extension of voter’s registration
-A A +AFriday, September 21, 2012
THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) regional office said there would be no more extension for the registration of voters in Eastern Visayas.
“They cannot expect for any extension because Comelec is even serving people who want to register during Saturdays and holidays,” said lawyer Felicisimo Embalsado, Comelec-Eastern Visayas assistant election director.
He said students and workers can register on Saturdays and holidays so there would be no reason for them not to be able to register on time.
The deadline for registration of voters would be on October 31 this year.
Comelec is encouraging people who have not registered yet to register on or before the deadline to avoid any problem.
Embalsado also said that registration of voters is suspended from October 1 to 5 to give way to those who will file their certificate of candidacy.
On the other hand, for those people who have not voted for two consecutive elections, Embalsado is also encouraging them to re-activate their registration on or before October 31 this year for them to be able to vote on the 2013 national and local elections. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
