No flooding, landslide incidents in Eastern Visayas

DESPITE the strong rains spawned by Typhoon “Lawin” across Eastern Visayas, no flooding or landslide incident occurred in any part of the region, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) said.
The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) lifted all storm signals in Leyte, Southern Leyte, Eastern and Northern Samar on Monday.
Though Biliran was not placed under public storm signal, continuous rains were experienced in the province, the OCD added.
“We’re happy that Lawin did not cause any flooding or landslide. What we have monitored were the passengers stranded in the different ferry terminals in the region,” said Ben Linde, spokesperson of the OCD.
Linde said despite the lifting of the storm signals, they still ask all local government units to be alert considering that rains continue to occur. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
