THE Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Leyte provincial office aims for a marketing target of P2 million this year for a three-day DTI Diskwento Caravan Program 2012.
Desiderio Belas Jr., DTI provincial director, said the caravan is participated in by 10 distributors and seven rural Micro Enterprise Promotion Program (RuMEPP) Assisted Producers coming from the different municipalities of Leyte.
The caravan is a continuing program that started May of last year. It gives consumers value to their money by giving the average of 10 percent discount and allowing them to buy certain products, goods, particularly the prime commodities like processed goods for as low as factory prices.
“Aside from giving the consumers a benefit of buying affordable goods, we are also doing a service to the producers, instead of having a product launching. This is a good venue to promote their products,” Belas said.
This month, the caravan, with the theme “Presyong Panalo Para sa Mamimiling Pilipino,” is under the regular edition category. It is conceptualized as “palengke” that retails and covers basic necessities and prime commodities.
Belas also emphasized that there will be an upcoming Diskwento Caravan on November 2012 under the “holiday edition” category. The caravan will run from November to December, particularly Christmas season, in which products to be sold are noche buena packages and other gift items. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
