LEYTE fifth district Board Member Carlo Loreto (5th district, Leyte) said the province still remains to be generally peaceful now that the May 13, 2013 local and national elections is fast approaching.
“The entire province of Leyte still has no election related incidence recorded so far,” Loreto told Leyte Samar Daily Express in an interview.
Loreto said he expects Leyte to be peaceful and will be sustained even after the May polls.
“I hope that our politicians here, who are running for any position in the political arena, would be calm and be sports minded on campaigning for their own,” Loreto added.
According to him, it would be up to the politicians if they would make the area peaceful or not, depending on their campaign ways and strategies.
“We would like to remind the politicians to somehow refrain from digging on personal issues and follow the proper way of campaigning, which is in accordance to the Commission on Election (Comelec),” he said.
Loreto said that to be a politician is not permanent in nature. Every politician has to end his term after assuming office, he added.
Meanwhile, the Express noted that Loreto, who is on his last term serving the fifth district as a board member, has filed his certificate of candidacy (CoC) for gubernatorial position in this year’s election. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
