ORMOC CITY -- A young man was shot dead by two unidentified riding in tandem men Thursday morning along corner Veloso and Beluang Sts., Cogon, Ormoc City, police said.
Senior Police Officer 3 (SPO3) Danny Rebato, the responding team leader of Police Station 1, said the police brought the victim to the Ormoc District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
A telephone call from a concerned citizen informed the police station about the shooting incident.
Even without identification cards, the police were able to recognize the victim as Danny Abellana, 19, since he had allegedly been involved in a series of robbery, according to SPO3 Rebato.
Abellana sustained 17 gunshot wounds to different parts of the body and the most fatal was on the head. Rebato said the perpetrators really had the intention of killing Abellana based on the injuries he sustained.
The motive could be a personal grudge, he added.
The suspects reportedly used a single motorcycle with no plate number and fled to an unknown direction after the incident.
Rebato confirmed Abellana was a non-member of TBS (True Brown Style), but said he has tattoos in some parts of the body.
In a telephone call to V. Rama Funeral, it was learned that the victim’s brother claimed his body and requested for an autopsy.
The victim’s brother who refused to identify himself declined to give a statement.
A thorough investigation is ongoing to determine the identity of the suspects. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
