Winners of ‘Go! Borongan’ photo contest announced-A A +A

BORONGAN CITY -- The winners of the 1st Go! Borongan Digital Photography Competition was announced, with Abdel Elecho’s Skimboarding, an image that captures the peacock feather-like wave splash created by the surfer subject, winning the grand prize of P20,000.
Elecho’s Surf’s Up! was also named runner-up in his category, making a total prize earnings of P25,000. The other runners-up winning P5,000 each were Garry Balano (Need Not Rock the Boat, Borongan Bay) and Reinier Ampong (Rest, Lo-om River).
Winners of Canon People’s Choice Award are Reinier Ampong (Rest, Lo-om River), Eunice Abenis (Taking the Detour), and Abdel Elecho (Skimboarding). Each will receive a Canon digital compact camera.
The special award was based on the three entries with the highest number of “likes” on Facebook.
Honorable mentions are Ian Alido (Crimson Dawn), Alfred Dalida (Divinubo Island), Jesus Abbie Odejete (Suribao River), and Reinier Ampong (Forever Starts Here). Each will receive gift items worth P1,000. The winning photographs are found on www.goborongan.com.
Lawyer Paul Resurreccion, a photographer with local and foreign photo exhibitions to his credit; Aaron Ebio, a Boronganon and professional photographer for a number of Manila-based companies; and Joel Mangahas, a development specialist in a multilateral development institution with formal training from the Federation of Philippine Photographers Foundation, composed the board of judges.
Awarding of prizes will be held at the Borongan Cultural Stage on September 7 during the Padul-ong Festival dance parade competition.
The photo contest, with the theme “Shoot Green: Borongan as an Ecotourism Destination,” was organized by Go! Borongan, a privately managed, non-profit, ecotourism portal, that aims to promote Borongan City as a top ecotourism destination.
The tilt was co-presented by Canon Marketing (Philippines) Inc. and HDI AdVentures Inc.
