Public urged to report illegal gamblers-A A +A
Monday, August 19, 2013
IN ITS effort to eradicate or reduce illegal gambling cases in the province, Leyte police Chief Brigido Unay urged the public to report and help stop these activities.
Unay admitted that illegal gambling is already part of the norms in the society but they will continuously respond to the directive by validating and take action on the reports province-wide.
For the first quarter of 2013, he said the police already have conducted 75 operations and apprehended 87 persons. For the month of July, on the other hand, they have apprehended 16 persons, including one minor.
He assured that they will do their job even if they will encounter big personalities behind the operation of these illegal gambling activities.
Unay also warned the community regarding the conduct of these illegal gambling activities because if proven guilty, they will face penalties depending on the gravity of the offense.
“We will still continue our operations as part of our mitigating measures and as long as we are doing the right thing, there is nothing to be afraid of,” he added. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
