CATARMAN, Northern Samar -- Another person was killed Friday inside the University of Eastern Philippines (UEP) campus.
The latest victim was identified as Gilbert Ibañez, 22, jobless and resident of Purok 2, Barangay Dalakit, this town.
Based on initial investigation conducted by the Catarman police, the victim was shot to death by a still unidentified man around 8 p.m. of September 4.
The victim’s body was discovered near the vicinity of Barangay Zone 3, UEP.
Senior Police Officer 2 (SPO2) Leo Arnio Magpayo said they are still establishing the motive on this latest killing to happen inside the UEP campus.
He said they are looking at personal grudge as the motive, as the victim was last spotted with some of his friends inside a videoke house.
A shouting match was said to have happened between the victims and some of his companions.
Magpayo said they are also eyeing revenge, as the victim was said to be the suspect in the killing of a motorcycle-for-hire driver.
The case was dismissed due to lack of witnesses, Magpayo said.
The police officer also said that the victim was said to be engaged in “akyat-bahay” robbery inside the campus and this could be the reason why he was shot to death.
On September 1, a man identified as Ian Jester Solomon, 36, a resident of Lim Avenue Andaya Subdivision, Barangay Zone 3 of UEP, was also shot dead around 8:20 p.m. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
