DPWH officials reminded of TRO-A A +A

THE office of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has reminded its officials not to implement the project funded by pork barrel fund following the issuance of Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) by the Supreme Court (SC).
In a memorandum dated September 16 addressed to all regional directors, project directors, district engineers, it stated that there shall be no obligations for projects funded from the Priority Development Assistance Fund in the years 2012 and 2013 General Appropriations Act starting September 10 until TRO is lifted. The letter was signed by the secretary, Rogelio Singson.
The SC issued the TRO upon the instruction of the Department of Budget and Management.
If the projects are contracted out before September 10, implementation can proceed.
The office of all undersecretaries and assistant secretaries, the office of the Comptrollership Financial Management Section directors, planning director and the Bureau of Construction director were also furnished a copy of the said memorandum.
All engineering district offices in Leyte, Samar, Northern Samar, Eastern Samar, Biliran, and Southern Leyte, all in Eastern Visayas are also expected to receive the memorandum this month. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
