TACLOBAN CITY -- Less than three months after Typhoon Yolanda, local government units (LGUs) in Eastern Visayas, through their disaster risk reduction and management councils (DRRMCs), are now taking necessary precautions as Tropical Depression Basyang intensified into a storm Friday morning.

A report from the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) here said that LGUs in Leyte have been advised to conduct preemptive evacuation of residents living in flood and landslide-prone areas.

The DRRMC of Tacloban City has already initiated the evacuation of its residents living along coastal areas and other places that are vulnerable to landslides and flooding.
