Power utility targets restoration of electricity by March 31-A A +A

ORMOC CITY -- The Leyte V Electric Cooperative (Leyeco) based here is optimistic to fully restore electricity in the third and fourth districts of Leyte covering 11 municipalities and one city on March 31 with the help of several electric coops from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao.
Leyeco V’s Institutional Services Division Manager Max Torcende revealed that as of Wednesday, the coop has re-established electricity around 64.35 percent within its franchise area and 43.17 percent in Ormoc city.
The electric coops that came to assist Leyeco V were from South Cotabato, Bohol, Leyeco 4, Biliran, Maguindanao, Visayan Electric Coop (Veco), Rama Construction, Benguet, Agusan del Norte and Cebu Electric Coop (Cebeco) 1, 2 and 3 that also helped Ormoc after the 1991 flash flood.
Cebeco alone brought in 570 personnel who were deployed within Leyeco V’s jurisdiction together with the workers from other electric coops to accomplish works based on its target date.
Torcende said the coop discouraged consumers of giving any amount in exchange of services rendered by the linemen.
It was learned, that Leyeco V received P100-million financial assistance from National Electrification Administration. (PNA)
