FIVE local government units in Eastern Visayas have completed the repair of their projects that were funded under the Rehabilitation Assistance for Yolanda (RAY) released by the national government through the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).

The repair of public market and civic center in Caibiran, Biliran worth P9.98 million and P500,000, respectively, are completed, said DILG Regional Director Pedro A. Noval Jr.

Four LGUs reported a 100 percent accomplishment in Leyte province, he added.

These include the P5.07 million civic center and P700,000 public market in Abuyog, P160,000 Calubian public market, P3.7 million municipal hall in Baybay City, and P1.5 million public market and P2 million civic center in Villaba.

“Repairs of public structures in other LGUs are ongoing. In fact, some of them are nearing a hundred percent completion,” he added.

Noval hoped that the projects will be completed during the last working day of December this year, as they still have to liquidate the funds for them to get the remaining 20 percent of their requested funds.

Wayback in April and May this year the DILG released funds, representing 80 percent of the proposed budget for three projects, namely, municipal hall, civic center and public market.

Any remaining funds will be returned to the DILG, he said although it is expected that LGUs will fully utilize the money for repair works. (PNA)
