MOST Leyteños affected by Typhoon Yolanda, which hit the province nine months ago, are already moving forward, a manifestation that they have already recovered from the trauma caused by the devastating calamity.

Governor Leopoldo Dominic Petilla identified the psychological impact of the devastating typhoon as one of the two major damages Yolanda caused to the people of Leyte.

“We have seen how resilient and determined they are to move forward and indeed they did very quickly,” Petilla said.

The governor said once people move forward, everything follows such that the economy becomes vibrant, houses are rebuilt and the residents even volunteered in emergency works, among others.

Meanwhile, the rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure is almost nearing 50 percent, he added.

Most of the infrastructures for the delivery of basic services are already rehabilitated if not ongoing repair to include school buildings and health facilities.

He said funds from the national government will ensure that the rehabilitation will be completed.

The province’s comprehensive rehabilitation plan costs almost P25 billion to already include that of Ormoc City.

The three-year plan is expected to be completed in 2016. (PNA)
