ORDINARY people should also be looked up too, Leyte fifth district Board Member Carlo Loreto said after relating the recent accident he figured while he was on his way to home.
Loreto, who was on his way home in Baybay town, met an accident where his car swirled several times on the road and crashed in a rice field. He was immediately helped by farmers who were near the accident site.
Congressman Carmen Cari of the fifth district, together with Board Member Florante Cayunda Jr., responded to his call and immediately went to the accident site.
The said incident, according to Loreto, had opened his mind that during times of trouble, among those who will help you are the least expected people.
He added what had happened to him can be related to the teaching "why we are celebrating Christmas, the act of giving and helping as what is taught by the Holy Scriptures as based on the teaching of Jesus Christ."
"Just like the message of Christmas that tells us to love one another and give helping hands with our fellowmen especially those who are in need, those people who help me when I meet an accident show that they are truly Christians living in the teaching of God," said Loreto.
"Even they have less or nothing in life they were not tempted to take my things while I was busy calling for help," he added.
"But what really touched my heart was when they helped me even they don't know me and without asking anything in return," he added.
"That is why I do commend this people because for me they should be looked up to and should be imitated by us especially our youngsters to do good to their fellowmen without asking anything in return," Loreto also said.
He then called the youth to do good things and live in the teaching of the Church and become Good Samaritans everyday without being told to do so.
He added the happiness that one feels when he do a good deed to his fellows is incomparable with the happiness that materials thing could provide. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
