Maasin swimmer bags 1 gold, 1 silver medal

CHRISTIAN Ivan Salud of Maasin City brought pride to Eastern Visayas after bagging the gold medal in the 50-meter breast stroke and another silver medal in the 100-meter breast stroke at the Palarong Pambansa 2012 in Linggayen, Pangasinan.

As of May 10 medal tally, the region has garnered only one gold.

The country’s biggest sports event for both elementary and high school students, which opened May 6, will have its awarding ceremony on Saturday.

Meanwhile, National Capital Region (NCR) maintains the lead with 45 gold, 30 silver, and 33 bronze medals; followed by Western Visayas with 26 gold, 18 silver, and 18 bronze medals; and Southern Tagalog with 15 gold, 16 silver and 12 bronze medals. (Leyte Samar Daily Express)
