MY MONDAY routine has gotten even better with hosting Trivia Night at the Sprockets Cafe. I have always wondered what their secret is to its almost immediate success. So I talked to Rachel, the owner, and she told me she wanted to open Sprockets as an "indie place" where people who love pop culture, music, art, and whatever indie people like, can enjoy a place that is conducive for it. Hence, from its very inception, she invited the Cebu Trivia Night team to do quiz night at Sprockets every Monday night. I must say I have enjoyed hosting Trivia Night there every night since we started.

Sprockets is known for their milk teas. I still haven't gotten over my obsession with the Choco Cheese Bomb with pearls and aloe vera bits. I know that my drink isn't exactly milk tea but this is my way of telling you that there are other drinks to choose from where you can enjoy your "sinkers". Try the strawberry milk with popping strawberry-flavored boba. It’s heaven in a grandé cup!

I am at Sprockets once a week so I make it a point to try something different every time. I have sampled their sandwiches, pizzas, and pastas. So one night, Rachel decided to have me sample their best seller—the Keana Ribs and the latest addition to their ever-growing menu, the Pizza Cookies.

The ribs are a plateful! It is served with a side of fried rice and pesto vegetables that go perfectly with the barbecue ribs. If you ask me, order an extra side of rice ‘coz I can assure you, you will need it!

I must say that the Pizza Cookies are like nothing I have ever tried before. Imagine a sweet, crumby crust, topped with cream cheese and colorful little candy-covered chocolates! It is just heaven in your mouth.

With many places offering similar food and drinks it is always my general rule to find one's favorite. To me, quality and value-for-money are two important things to consider alongside great service delivered with genuine smiles.

Therefore, I conclude that Rachel's secret is not exactly rocket science. It's basically giving its guests what every guest wants: quality food at reasonable prices, alternative entertainment that is Trivia Night, the right ambience for its audience, and service with a smile.

This is why Sprockets Café has now become one of my very few "second homes". It is not only because I host Trivia Night there but also because to me, it really does feel like home.
