ARTIST Rey Mudjahid “Kublai” Ponce Millan is known as a Mindanaoan sculptor who builds huge monuments all over Mindanao.
But every once in a while, he goes out to build similarly imposing artworks, like this one in Iloilo City at the LifeBank Rural Bank of Maasin (Iloilo), Inc. in Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.
The rural bank is recognized for being among the top rural banks in deposit mobilization and is predominantly owned by the family of sustainable growth advocate Nicanor S. Perlas.
Everyone who enters the main office of Life Bank in Iloilo is welcome by the image of a mother and child with the sun as their backdrop. The same backdrop on the reverse side shows a father and son, the father setting off his son to explore.
The family is the basic foundation of human life and nurturing the children requires saving up for their future. These images are what LifeBank wants to share to its clients and stakeholders.
At the back, however, is a quiet statement on what life really is all about – a smaller sculpture of a man on the moon holding a fishing rod.
Indeed, at one’s prime you need to invest love, hard work, and money for your family, but what can soothe the soul whether every night or into one’s twilight years is the ability to sit down and relax and enjoy the simple life.
