IT WAS the season for giving, and more…
The devastation in Northern Mindanao brought out anew the quick response of Sun.Star Davao to extend assistance. Soon after confirming the news about the deadly flashfloods in Iligan and Cagayan de Oro Cities, Sun.Star opened its doors once more as the northern drop-off center for relief goods of ABS-CBN Davao’s Sagip Kapamilya.
This is not the first time Sun.Star partnered with ABS-CBN Davao.
The partnership for delivery of assistance was first hatched when Typhoon Ondoy throttled Luzon. With ABS-CBN Davao in Matina in the southern part of Davao City, and Sun.Star Davao in Agdao, there was good reason to put up a drop-off station for residents of northern areas to make it easier for Dabawenyos who want to help.
On the 21st, Sun.Star Davao packed some goodies and food for its annual treat to less fortunate children, this time with the girls of the Tambayan Center for Children’s Rights. It was just a simple merienda treat topped with some loot bags that included new rubber slippers.
The year ended for Sun.Star with yet another party for urban poor children, this time in partnership with Gigz Unlimited and Kiwanis Club Kalumon Dabaw Chapter at the Cabantian Gym where Gigz, which organizes parties and events, put up a circus show complete with popular mascots. Two hundred children had the Christmas party that even the adults enjoyed.
