Where you have to share

IM MISSED out on this one and didn’t see it taking shape. It just appeared there and brought to my attention by food spotter Ian G. last week.
Riley Simon is the name and it’s at that row of commercial stalls along Mabini Street. It’s right beside Wings and Dips and on the same building as Pi Pan Ya, C. Pablo’s, and Tita Mina’s.
Riley Simon takes pride in their burgers, as they try to challenge the tummy capacity of Dabawenyos by offering giant burgers.
Trisha and I were trying to sneak in. But then, in a city like Davao, that is difficult.
Thus, just as we entered, there was Golda and her friends smiling up at us. They have already finished their dinner, but on their table was still half a burger.
At another table, another half a burger was being sent to the kitchen to be wrapped and brought home.
Golda’s table recommended the RS No. 2, for the burger, and so we got it.
(That’s grilled round burger with tomato, lettuce, cucumber, mayonnaise and cheese for P165). We ventured to order yet another of what the place claims to be their specialty, RS Ribs No. 2 (P135) as well, the single serving with rice. A bigger serving is good for five persons, there were only two of us so the choice was obvious.
The grilled pork ribs were okay and would fit anyone’s palate. It’s very tender and the sauce is just sweet enough. We were watching our rice intake though as we awaited the giant burger.
The giant burger is as wide as your iPad and I would have wanted a thicker patty just to complement the giant bun. But it’s already good as it is. That’s just me.
Trisha said our friend Razelle recommended the dory fish sandwich or something that sounded like that we didn’t have the spare tummy to try that one though.
From the looks of it, many people have already heard of Riley Simon. First it was suggested by Ian G. Second, there were considerable number of customers inside, and one table had another group taking over. Not bad, really.
Outside was another table occupied by four customers. I prefer their ribs though, better than their burgers. Maybe because it’s too big, its sheer size curbs your appetite.
Just as Golda and friends and the table across did before us, we only managed half the burger and our other half was sent back to the kitchen for wrapping. That should give you an idea how big it really is.
Now back to Golda (she’s the lady behind Bloom Facial Spa), we would have wanted to take her photo so that we’d have some other face to grace this page. Violent reaction we got. She’s not properly made up and that is bad for her image. Now I know I will never ever think of becoming a facial spa owner.
