Bangit to organize health service command

NEWLY-INSTALLED Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) chief of staff Delfin Bangit announced that one of his priorities is to ensure a good health care of the soldiers as well as their dependents.
Bangit made the announcement upon his arrival Monday afternoon at Camp Don Basilio Navarro, which houses the Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) headquarters in Zamboanga City.

Bangit disclosed that organizing a health service command for the AFP is already on the pipeline.
“I would like to see for myself if this can be organized already. If this can be given consideration for a go signal,” Bangit said.
“Once it is organized at magiging maganda yong sistema ng ating health provisions for the soldiers, then there may be only one commander for purposes of health services,” he added.
He said that at present military hospitals are under the area command like in the case of the Camp Navarro General Hospital which is under the command of the Wesmincom.
He said hospital facilities run by the AFP could be modernized once there is a health service command.
Bangit, together with the chiefs of the AFP's service command as well as Wesmincom chief Lieutenant General Benjamin Mohammad Dolorfino, is set to visit Tuesday the troops in Sulu province.
The government forces are ordered by the President to continuously pursuing the remaining leaders and members of the Abu Sayyaf group in Sulu. (Bong Garcia)
