THE Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has lined up series of activities in line with the celebration of National Science and Technology Week (NSTW) during the month of July.
DOST Zamboanga Peninsula Director Brenda Nazareth-Manzano said this year's NSTW celebration, which will start from July 20 until 24, is themed "Responding to the Global Challenges" and sub-themed "Saan Man, Kailan Man Science and Technology at Kailangan."

Manzano said the various activities, which focus on entrepreneur mind setting, business and livelihood trainings, technical consultancy and technology forum as the highlight of the this year's NSTW celebration.
Manzano is inviting prospective and existing entrepreneurs to actively participate in the four-day activities "so that they can acquire appropriate knowledge and skills to start or enhance their own business."
She added the various activities, which will be held in Dipolog City, the capital of Zamboanga del Norte province, are aimed to inculcate awareness of the importance of science and technology in the lives of the people in Zamboanga Peninsula.
She said the activities include training on shampoo, lotion and batch soap production with existing local manufacturers, hotel operators, wellness and spa owners, and prospective businessmen from July 20-22.
There will also be technology forum on nutritious ice cream, with ice cream makers, potential processors, and businessmen on July 23.
It includes Technology Needs Assessment (TNA) with potential adaptor or adaptors of Nutritious Ice Cream during an on-site visit on July 23, according to Manzano.
There will be a by appointment Product Packaging Assessment and Consultation Existing local food processors or manufacturers also on July 23, she said.
On July 24, the last day of the four-day activities, there will be Techno-Preneurship Forum for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs).
Manzano said that registrations for all activities are free-of-charge but seats are limited and on a first-come-first-serve basis.
