DTI offers discount for business name registration

BUSINESSMEN applying for new business names or renewing existing business names have only until July 15 to avail of the 50 percent discount for business name registration.

Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Provincial Director Rolando Acuña said the offer is pursuant to Department Administrative Order 09-01 which took effect on January 16, 2009 and will remain in effect for six months only.

Acuña said that those who will file on or before July 15 will only pay P150 or 50 percent less than the original fee of P300.

Those who will file after July 15 will have to pay the full amount, which is P300.

Acuña said the DTI issued the administrative order to entice businessmen to process early their application for renewal of business name and registration of new business name.

He said applicants can visit his office or the National Research and Business Assistance Center-Zamboanga to avail of the discount.

He also said that they have implemented measures to make it hassle-free for sole proprietorship businesses that are registered with the DTI.

Acuña said the applicants may file it personally, which are now processed faster, or through online registration at www.bnrs.dti.gov.ph.
