THE Zamboanga Peninsula Police Regional Office (PRO) has ordered all the police stations and National Support units under its jurisdiction to create and submit their respective Twitter accounts.
PRO information officer-in-charge Inspector Dahlan Samuddin said that police regional director Chief Superintendent Edgar Basbas issued the order as the command is joining the Philippine National Police’ (PNP) Twitter challenge.
The PNP launched the competition, dubbed as #11.3K PNP Twitter Challenge, to promote the utilization of Twitter, in order to multiply the huge number of followers for the PNP Offices’ and Unit Commanders’ respective Twitter accounts.
The Twitter challenge is in line with the 113th PNP Anniversary in August.
Samuddin said the PNP has recognized the significance of the social media through the different electronic platforms that cater to the most number of netizens.
“It is obvious that the current utilization of social media as an effective and costless free channel for information dissemination and the avenue for interaction has yet to be fully utilized by PNP Offices and Unit Commanders as well. Thus, the PNP launches the contest and all PNP Offices and Unit Commanders are required to join the said challenge,” he said.
The Twitter challenge is open to all PNP Offices and Unit Commanders.
The contest has two categories namely the Police Office Twitter Account and the Individual Twitter Account.
All participants are required to post their respective Twitter accounts at the Twitter wall of PCRG (@PNP_PCRG) and follow the PNP Command Group Twitter Accounts as follows: @AlanLPurisima; @Felipe_L_Rojas; and, @PNP_OTCDS_.
The competition will have three winners in each category.
The first one to reach 11,300 followers within the period of the challenge, which is until Monday, July 28, shall be declared the champion and the next two highest numbers of followers shall be declared as first runner-up and second runner-up, respectively.
The winners in each category will receive Plaques of Recognition and will be posted immediately at the PCRG Twitter account “@PNP_PCRG” on Tuesday, July 29.
The awarding of winners will be held on August 4 at Camp Crame, said Samuddin. (Bong Garcia)
