Ramirez said 17 houses, including a boarding house, mostly made of light materials were gutted down during the incident.
He said initial investigation showed that the fire started in one of the rooms of the boarding house where a lighted candle was left unattended.
Ramirez said due to the brownout, residents were using lighted candles instead.
The damages caused by the fire reached to P800,000.
Some of the displaced families are temporarily housed at Zone II Village Hall while the others sought shelter from their relatives.
Ramirez advised the residents to be careful in using candles during brownouts to prevent the fire. (Bong Garcia)
