THE National Food Authority (NFA) suspended 11 of its accredited outlets as the agency intensified its "One-Strike Policy" campaign in Zamboanga City, an official said.
NFA Assistant Regional Director Rolando Maravilla said that four of the 11 suspended outlets are classified as "Tindahan Natin" while seven are "Tindahan Sa Parokya."

The outlets were suspended after it was discovered that they are selling overpriced government-subsidized rice to the public, said Maravilla.
He said the sale of rice in all of the "Tindahan Natin" and "Tindahan sa Parokya" outlets are being monitored by the "Palengke Watchers" of the NFA to ensure that they sell cheap rice to indigents in the barangays.
He also said that there are 87 Tindahan Natin, 19 Tindahan sa Parokya, and 21 Bigasan sa Palengke outlets that were authorized to sell the NFA imported rice.
The "One-Strike Policy" campaign was launched to ensure that the supplies of government-subsidized rice are brought to the accredited outlets and are sold to the intended beneficiaries, Maravilla said.
The NFA has flooded the markets in the entire region with the cheap staple to prevent unscrupulous businessmen from increasing the price of commercial rice, and to ensure enough supply.
