LAND titles were distributed Thursday to beneficiaries of the National Housing Authority's (NHA) resettlement program and Community Mortgage Program (CMP) of the Social Housing Finance Corporation (SHFC) in Zamboanga Peninsula and the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm).

Vice President and Housing and Urban Development Coordinating Council (HUDCC) chairman Jejomar Binay lead the distribution of the Transfer Certificate of Titles (TCTs).

Binay also led the opening of the two-day Zamboanga Peninsula and Armm Pabahay (Housing) Caravan 2011 at the Garden Orchids Hotel in Zamboanga City.

The beneficiaries of the NHA's Resettlement Program who received TCTs are: Kamahardikaan Village Housing Project, Phase I in Indanan town, Sulu; Dumagok Resettlement Project in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur; and the Zamboanga Teacher's Village Phase I in Cabaluay, Zamboanga City.

Binay also awarded 10 TCTs to the SHFC's CMP beneficiaries who are members of six homeowners associations in Zamboanga City.

Binay also led the awarding of the approved Funding Commitment Line (FCL) amounting to P323.5 million to HTT Realty and Recreational/Shie Jie Corporation for the development of Villa Teresa Subdivision located in Mercedes, Zamboanga City.

The FCL provided by the Pag-Ibig fund shall ensure the construction of 136 housing units.

During the two-day caravan, the heads of the NHA, SHFC, National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC), the Housing and Land Use Regulatory Board (HLURB), and the Home Development Mutual Funds (HDMF) or Pag-Ibig fund are to present their agency's respective housing programs and services.

"By making the LGUs aware of our housing program and services, we will be able to encourage them to work together with the national government in accelerating shelter production and enhancing the delivery of housing services to the people," Binay said.

He added that the recent P20-million assistance granted by NHA for the construction of 200 housing units for the victims of the fire in Barangay Walled City in Jolo, Sulu in October of 2010 is a demonstration of the partnership of the national and the local governments in housing.

The Zamboanga Peninsula and Armm-Pabahay Caravan in the city is the sixth this year with the last five caravans held in Cebu, Baguio City, Tagatay City, Davao and Pampanga.
