Flash flood hits three villages

HUNDREDS fled their homes early this week after torrential rains since Tuesday caused flooding in several east coast villages in Zamboanga City, a local official said.
The affected villages are Quiniput, Bunguiao, and Bolong, said City Social Welfare and Development Officer Francisco Barredo.
Barredo said the flood destroyed a house and damaged 16 others in Quiniput, swept away two houses in Bunguiao village, and swept two houses and damaged seven others.
He said 61 families composed of 200 persons have fled their homes in Quiniput and Bunguiao villages.
He said social welfare office personnel were sent to the three villages and distributed relief goods to the affected families.
City Agriculturist Diosdado Palacat said they have yet to determine the value of the crops that were damaged in the flash flood.
