Ex-village official dies after fistfight

A FORMER village official died after he figured in a fistfight against a fishpond worker in an east coast village of this city, the police reported.
Police Station 1 Chief Rockie Laungayan said the incident took place around 11:45 p.m. Thursday at Sitio Log Pond, Tictapul village, 84 kilometers east of Zamboanga City.
Laungayan identified the fatality as Ricardo Pedro, 43, a former village councilor of Tictapul.
Laungayan identified the suspect as Ricardo Caming, 28, a resident of Sitio Tarlago of the same village.
Pedro was rushed to the hospital for treatment after he suffered severe head injuries when his head hit a hard object when Caming allegedly floored him in a fish fight, Laungayan said.
He said the former village official died while undergoing treatment at the hospital.
The suspect was immediately arrested by responding policemen of Police Station 1, he said. (Bong Garcia)
