VICE President Jejomar Binay, the national Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) president, will be the guest of honor in a weeklong Regional BSP Jamboree to be held in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay's capital.

Governor Rommel Jalosjos said they are fast-tracking the preparations and development of the campsites, adding that Binay was invited to grace the event scheduled from September 23 to 29.

Jalosjos said the venue of the Regional BSP Jamboree is Ipil's capitol hills, where three campsites -- Camps Alibutdan, Tambao and Jalosjos -- are being developed.

He said they are also preparing other needs like water, electricity and comfort stations, adding the Provincial Government has also coordinated with Zamboanga Peninsula Police Director Elpidio De Asis for augmentation of policemen to secure the Jamboree campsites during the weeklong event.

He said thousands of boy scouts are expected to participate in the weeklong Jamboree.

The BSP is the national scout organization of the Philippines. Its mission is to imbue in the youth the love of God, country, and fellow men.

It also aims to train young people to become responsible leaders and to contribute in nation building. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
