4 killed in Zamboanga massacre-A A +A

ZAMBOANGA CITY (Updated 2:30 p.m.) -- Zamboanga del Sur Police Director Jose Bayani Gucela said Tuesday that four people, including a four-year-old boy, were massacred in a village in Zamboanga del Sur province.
Gucela said the incident took place around 5 a.m. Monday in the village of Bogayo, Kumalarang town, Zamoanga del Sur.
Gucela identified the victims as Elizabeth Ybanez, 58, widow, and her granddaughters Cherry Mae saquilabon, 16, and Karen Andojo, 23, and nephew Jhon Ryan Celario, 4.
The victims succumbed to multiple hack and stab wounds, Gucela said.
Investigation showed that all the victims were all sleeping inside their house when unidentified suspects barged in, hacked and stabbed them.
Gucela said the suspects carted away P4,000 cash, two mobile phones and one silver necklace.
The victims were discovered dead by their neighbors, who went to check the victims' house hours after the incident.
The neighbors told the police of Kumalarang town that they heard a commotion around 5 a.m. at the victims' residence, Gucela said. (Bong Garcia)
