MAYOR Celso Lobregat is set to convene Wednesday the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC) to address issues and concerns affecting the Zamboanga Peninsula.
Lobregat said they will discuss updates on the military's anti-insurgency campaign, the anti-illegal logging campaign of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, election of the component City Mayor representative in the council and other issues that include a briefing on the kidnapping of an Australian national in Zamboanga Sibugay, among others.

Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo was supposed to attend the first council meeting. He cancelled his trip to this city on Tuesday because of more pressing concerns.
Meanwhile, when asked to comment on the impact of his appointment as council chair, Lobregat said it will be an opportunity to be more in touch with the regional offices of the police, bureau of Jail, Fire and other law enforcement units, as the council will not only be looking after security but also public safety.
The RPOC is the body that ensures a more comprehensive and effective coordination of government efforts and the active participation of citizenry in the campaign against criminality and insurgency, Lobregat said.
