“And as I end my third term in 2013, the City Government’s investment in education and education-related projects will surpass the P1 billion mark,” Lobregat added.
The education projects and programs include the construction, repair of school buildings, fences, comfort rooms, stages, covered courts including the provision of computers, desks and chairs, books as well as hiring of teachers through the Local School Board (LSB) and the grant of allowances to mentors.
In 2011, Lobregat cited that 25 school buildings with 219 classrooms worth P204.79 million were completed.
Included in the newly-constructed school buildings are five three-storey nine-classroom buildings in the villages of Bolong, Culianan, Curuan and two in Divisoria, Lobregat said.
There are also 16 newly repaired and ongoing repair projects amounting to P25.4 million, Lobregat added.
