THE government-run Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) is introducing an online registration for prospective members in a bid to bolster the agency's aggressive membership campaign, a top PhilHealth official announced.
Philhealth vice president for Western Mindanao Romeo Alberto said the online registration is expected to hasten the membership process into the government health insurance program, which is now mandatory.
Alberto foresees that the number of PhilHealth members will increase with the introduction of the online registration.
“Getting into the net will surely help to entice people to join PhilHealth and get under its coverage,” Alberto said.
He said they have attained 74-percent coverage in Zamboanga Peninsula last year.
He expressed high hopes that they can achieve higher percentages of coverage this year with the introduction of the online registration.
PhilHealth eyes 100-percent coverage in the region in three years time, he said. (Bong Garcia)
