AN OFFICIAL said Saturday that a series of feeding programs is set to be held in the villages that were inundated by flood in Dapitan City.

Councilor Apple Marie Agolong said the first beneficiary of the feeding program is Barangay Ilaya with venues at barangay hall and Bubunao.

Ilaya was among the 13 villages inundated by flood following continuous heavy rains from Wednesday night until Thursday morning.

The water started rising around 6 a.m. Thursday and was worsened when the rivers in nearby municipalities overflowed towards Dapitan City.

Aside from Ilaya, the other affected villages were Barcelona, Ba-ao, Burgos, Dampalan, Diwa-an, Masidlakon, Oyan, Opao, Pontungan, Polo, Sulangon, and Tamion.

Agolong said the other feeding schedules are: Monday, Burgos; Tuesday, Oyan; Wednesday, Sulangon; and Thursday, Opao.

The rest of the feeding program schedule will be announced later, Agolong said.

Meanwhile, Agolong said they are grateful to individuals and groups who give financial assistance for the conduct of the series of feeding programs in the affected villages.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said 3,263 families or 13,052 individuals have evacuated to safer areas when their village were inundated by flood.

The flood destroyed 19 houses, according to the NDRRMC. (Bong Garcia)
