Gunmen harass troops; 1 hurt

A CIVILIAN worker was injured when unidentified armed men fired on a group of Filipino soldiers working with civilians on an American-funded road concreting project in Basilan.
Colonel Ricardo Visaya, commander of the Army's 104th Infantry Brigade, said the incident took place around 6:45 a.m. Saturday in the village of Amaloy, Ungkaya Pukan town.

The injured civilian was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment, Visaya said.
The suspects, on the other hand, immediately fled after the incident.
The motive of the incident was believed to be extortion, Visaya said.
Police and military are conducting investigation to unmask the suspects, Visayas added.
