Hundreds of fuel cards still unclaimed

LAND Transportation Office (LTO) Regional Director Aminola Abaton has called on the public transport sector to take advantage of the assistance given them by the government.

Abaton made the call as he said there are still 700 unclaimed Pantawid Pasada cards in his office.

Of the unclaimed cards, Abaton said the 200 belong to the first batch of release while the 500 on the second batch.

The first batch, which have a total of 1,810 of Pantawid Pasada cards, were distributed to the beneficiaries in May of last year while the second batch, which have a total of 1,640 cards, were distributed in December, also last year.

The issuance of the cards is in line with Executive Order No. 32 issued by President Benigno Aquino, III instituting the Public Transport Assistance Program (PTAP) to provide relief to the public transport sector to cushion the impact of high fuel prices on the riding and consuming public.

Abaton said the public transport owners should grab the opportunity of the assistance given by the government by claiming their Pantawid Pasada Cards.

The LTO maintains a master list of the government's PTAP beneficiaries and the card will be released upon verification of the documents.

Among the documents to be presented in claiming the Pantawid Pasada card are a photocopy of the official receipt, certificate of registration of the vehicle, and confirmation of franchise from the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB).

Each of the cards is loaded with P1,050 worth of fuel and it can be used to claim in the accredited gasoline stations.

There are two gasoline stations in Zamboanga City that are accredited under the government's PTAP, Abaton said. (Bong Garcia)
