Mayor swears in newly hired, promoted employees
Monday, February 13, 2012
MAYOR Celso Lobregat sworn in Monday 36 newly hired and 48 newly promoted employees of the City Government and reminded them that when they were interviewed, it was done after office hours to signal that time is important.
"If we conduct the interviews during office hours, there will be many works affected. So, I make it a point that interviews for job applicants are done after office hours until the wee hours of the following day, be it Saturday or Sunday," Lobregat said after swearing in the new and newly promoted City Government employees at City Hall conference room.

"It signals that under our administration, time is of the essence," he said, as he urged the employees to put by heart his message for the whole year -- that is "doing things right with a sense of urgency."
City Human Resource and Management Officer Erlina Sanchez, who has served City Government under seven mayors, said that under Lobregat's administration, all job applicants pass through the selection process.
Lobregat also wanted to emphasize that his administration has had the highest turnovers of employees, or there were more employees hired and promoted under his leadership than during the previous administration.
Of those who were inducted by Lobregat, 36 are new and some from job order to casual -- 12 for the City Administrator's Office, one for the City Assessor's Office, two for the City Mayor's Office, four for the City Engineer's Office, three for the General Services Office, three for the City Health Office and 11 Local School Board teachers (three for elementary and eight for secondary).
The 48 others were promoted to different positions.
After the oath-taking, the newly hired and promoted city employees underwent an orientation on the rules and regulations governing the conduct and ethical standards of government employees, and other related laws. (Bong Garcia)
