President Benigno Simeon Aquino III has recently named Lobregat as RPOC chair along with five other chairpersons of RPOCs in their respective regions.
Convening for the first time with a new chairman, the RPOC will discuss updates on the anti-insurgency campaign by the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), election of the component City Mayor representative in the RPOC and other pressing issues that include a briefing on the kidnapping of an Australian national in Zamboanga Sibugay and other matters.
The RPOC is the body that ensures a more comprehensive and effective coordination of government efforts and the active participation of citizenry in the campaign against criminality and insurgency.
The RPOC exists in every region in the country and is composed of city and municipal mayors, governors, national office directors, private sector representatives, military and the Police Regional Director. (Bong Garcia)
