Sunday, February 19, 2012
SOCIAL Security System (SSS) vice president for Western Mindanao Rodrigo Filoteo announced that SSS will resume the processing of the new Unified Multi-purpose eCard (Umid) for new members in July of this year.
Filoteo said the Umid card will enable SSS members to transact with allied government agencies such as the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-ibig Fund and Government Service Insurance System using a single harmonized card.

Filoteo said the issuance of the Umid card is on compliance with Executive Order (E.O.) No. 420 dated April 13, 2005, which requires all government agencies (GAs) and government-owned and controlled corporations to streamline their identification systems.
Filoteo said it is also in line with E.O. No. 700 dated January 16, 2008, which identified the SSS identification system as the core of the new Umid system directing the SSS to implement the streamlining of the ID systems of all GAs and GOCCs.
The new Umid eCard is for the new members enrolling with the SSS, while the existing members can still utilize the old SSS members' ID, Filoteo said.
However, he said those who wish to shift to the new Umid eCard can do so but have to pay P300 as cost of the production of the card. (Bong Garcia)
