Martinez identified the victim as Airman Second Class (A2C) Ryan Madriaga, who was assigned at the Edwin Andrews Air Base (EAAB) in the city.
Investigation disclosed the victim went to visit his live-in partner in a rented apartment to tell her that he is leaving for Davao City when shot by a lone gunman, Martinez said.
Madriaga, who suffered multiple gunshot wounds, was declared dead on arrival by attending physician at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
The unidentified gunman, who was clad in black jacket, fled aboard a motorcycle, Martinez said.
