City finalizes security plan for Charter Day celebration

MAYOR Celso Lobregat has convened Monday afternoon a meeting with the different agencies and finalized the security and traffic measures and other details to ensure a hassle-free celebration of the 75th Charter Day anniversary on Sunday.
Present during the meeting were Task Force Zamboanga (TFZ) commander Colonel Buenaventura Pascual, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) representative Superintendent Hado Edding, City Administrator Antonio Orendain Jr., City Tourism Officer Sarita Hernandez, City Sports Director Bernardito Patiño and representatives from the various sectors such as radio group, medical group and other concerned agencies.

ZCPO director Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo was on official trip Monday in Manila.
Lobregat said the meeting was intended to finalize preparations for the celebration, which is a significant milestone in the city’s political history.
Lobregat stressed that February 26 marks the day when the first set of appointed city officials was installed into office 75 years ago.
Spanish Ambassador Jorge Domecq is arriving on Saturday as he was invited to be the guest of honor and speaker during the Charter Day program.
The Spanish envoy, upon his arrival on Saturday, February 25, will also grace the Red Carpet Night for the 2012 Zamboanga International Film Festival, one of the significant highlights in this year’s celebration.
During the meeting, the ZCPO and TFZ presented their individual security plan for the different activities that will be held starting this week leading to the Dia de Zamboanga celebration on Sunday.
Some of the events will be held indoors while several others will be held outdoors.
Lobregat said all is set for the Charter Day celebration after the conference Monday afternoon.
The activities heat up this week starting with several other activities, organized either by the City Government or private groups, are set to be held in line with the 75th Charter Day celebration of this city.
