THE Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) has alerted all its stations against a plot to conduct bomb attacks by members of the Abu Sayyaf group in Zamboanga City and in other parts of the region.
ZCPO Deputy Director for Operations Hado Edding said Tuesday that intelligence reports showed the bombings are in retaliation to the deaths of Abu Sayyaf bandits and Jemaah Islamiyah (JI) militants in the recent air strike in the province of Sulu.

The Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) earlier said JI militants Zulkipli Bin Abdul Hir alias Marwan, Muhamda Ali alias Muawiya and Abu Sayyaf leader Gumbahali Jumdail alias Dr. Abu Pula were among the 15 JIs and bandits killed in an air strike last February 2 in the village of Duyan Kabau, Parang, Sulu.
Edding said the bombings would be led by a certain Abu Mike, who is allegedly a survivor of the February 2 military air strike in the municipality of Parang, Sulu province.
Edding said all the police stations and units have been alerted considering that Zamboanga City is set to celebrate its 75th Charter Day anniversary.
The local government, in coordination with the private sector, has lined up several activities in line with the Charter Day celebration on Sunday, February 26.
Earlier, ZCPO Director Edwin de Ocampo said his command will deploy at least 200 policemen during the grand parade and program on Sunday. (Bong Garcia)
